Happy Mothers Day - Hiding In My Craftroom

Hello friends!  Well it's that time of year again, time to honor the Mothers in our lives!  This year things are a little different around our home, I get an extra kid in the form of a foreign exchange student named Luca.  Being a host parent has been a very rewarding and enriching experience, being made really special for me because of the "son" I have gained.  Luca is a very intelligent, polite and caring young man with a great future ahead of him.  He is from Italy, and his rich culture has brought a lot of joy to our home.   Since he would be be away from his Mama this year I offered to make a card for him.

This week at Hiding in My Craft Room our challenge is to create a Mothers Day card and here is mine for Anna Maria, Luca's mother:

Here are some more photos

The digi image is from A Day for Daisy's, and it's called AngelsResting , you can find it here;  http://adayfordaisies.com/stamps/angels-resting-p-4.html
Here is the image uncolored,  Angels Resting  I show you this to point out a few small changes I made:  in the image the child angel is a girl, not a boy,  so...I used some white paint to hide the top tail and since she is wearing a sleeveless gown like her mother angel, I add a line on the arm for a shirt sleeve and with the magic of Copics,  and Distress embossing powder and voila, she is now a he in a angel's gown!

The interior holds the sentiment translated into Italian.  It reads "Thank you Mom for all your love, and letting me sprout my own wings". I found the Sentiment in a book called Inspiration Station by Betsy Flot.
I used papers from Colorbok and My Minds Eye.  The image was copied onto watercolor paper and I used Distress Markers and Distress Stains to color.  The white flower is Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers cut from pale blue organza and cheese cloth.  It is fastened together with a vintage pearl button and has a Prima pearl cluster surrounding it. Other pearls are Martha Stewart and Recollections.  The die cut flower from the interior is Spellbinders.

I will be entering this into the following challenges:
